The effects of German heavy shell fire on the town of Verdun in 1916. In their attempt to force the French key positions at Verdun, the Germans concentrated huge reserves of guns and shells on the area. High trajectory guns were responsible for much of the damage, along with incendiary shells. Date: 1916
