Strangling of the Beer Bill by Lord Brougham
Newspaper article, Strangling (with a misprint!) of the Beer Bill by Lord Brougham and other peers in the House of Lords. The writer claims that many families will be ruined as a result, and that it will disadvantage poor and working class people. The move was designed to limit the sale of beer amongst the poorer population by partially repealing the Sale of Beer Act (or Beerhouse Act) of 1830.
