The Sphinx - Anzac Beach
Known to the Turks as Yuksek Tepe - High Hill - and known to the troops as The Sphinx, this rocky feature dominates the Anzac landing beaches on the west coast of the peninsula. This beach and cove became famous as the site of World War I landing of the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) on April 25, 1915. Date: circa 1918
