Four cards representing the fact that four members of a household in Maltravers Street in Arundel had enlisted 1914. The Earl of Arundel had converted his ancestral castle into recruiting offices and had established an Order of Patriotism with medals. One was given to each local recruit and by the time this photograph was published, 400 out of a population of 2842 had joined up. Date: 1914
