The Royal Hospital of Bethlehem; the gallery for women
The hospital also known as Bethlem Royal Hospital or Bedlam was the oldest psychiatric hospital in the world. The building has been moved around many sites, but was founded in a priory on the outskirts of the city by the sisters of the Star of Bethlehem. It moved then to Bishopsgate Street, where Liverpool Street Station now stands. Then onto Moorfields and finally to the Lambeth site where the Imperial War Museum is now housed
