Reformatory School for Boys, Thorndon, Suffolk

The reformatory school for boys at Thorndon, near Eye in Suffolk, originally established in 1856. It was usually known as the Kerrison Reformatory, after one of its initiators, Sir Edward C Kerrison. In 1933 it became the Kerrison Approved School. Reformatories could house convicted juvenile offenders aged under 16 for a period of 2 to 5 years
