Queen Mary Ocean Liner, final preparations for launch
Final preparations for the launching R.M.S. Queen Mary Ocean Liner then know as Hull Number 534. Hundreds of tons of tallow, soft soap, and other lubricants were distributed over the surface of the launching-ways down which the ships enormous bulk slide to take to the water and chain cable was assembled for use as drags to check her too-rapid progress once she was afloat. On 26 September 1934, Queen Mary consort to George V of Britian, lauched the giant Liner Queen Mary, in front of thousands of people on the 26 September 1934.
