She was donating the puppies (whose dam was Toftwood Misery) for a sweepstakes in aid of the South London Hospital and Royal Veterinary College. Greyhound racing enjoyed a new found popularity during the late 1920s and 1930s not just among the working classes but also, " high society" with many society ladies owning greyhounds and inviting their circle for dinner and drinks at the stadiums springing up around the country.
