Back of postcard written by American soldier in London, WW1
The back of a postcard, sent by an American soldier staying in London in January 1919, shortly after the Armistice. The front of the postcard (see picture number 10794219) was a view of the Eagle Hut YMCA in Aldwych, which provided accommodation for thousands of overseas soldiers, particularly Americans during their time spent in the capital. The message on the postcard, which was sent to an address in Cherry Chase, Massachussetts, reads as follows: To Bess, Leaving " Blighty" on the 8:20 tonight but surely don t like to go for this is SOME town and I have been having SOME time. Everybody happy? Will Date: 1919
