United States Air Force - Lockheed F-4 Lightning 41-2145
United States Air Force - Lockheed F-4-1-LO Lightning 41-2145 Foto Jo, call-sign A45, of the 9th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron / 8th Photographic Reconnaissance Group at Barrackpur, India. Missing in Action 29 September 1944. (Lockheed Model 222-62-13) Of note are the machine gun barrels pointing from the nose. The consensus of opinion, among those that know, is that they were dummies, as the considerable vibrations from firing the guns would very rapidly render the cameras useless, (the main reason why reconnaissance aircraft were usually unarmed). (Note: The note with the negative refers to this as a conversion from a P-38F, and the guns are real, with one 6 vertical camera and one 24 K-18 camera. The conversion assertion is definitely not true, but the guns are still up for debate) Date: circa 1944
