P.O.W. at Holzminden. James Whale, 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. Captured (26.8.17) POW at Holzminden Camp, Germany. Whale drew charcoal portrait sketches of his fellow inmates and played bridge so successfully in high stakes games that he cashed in about Four Thousand Pounds worth of IOUs when he got back to England after the war. Repatriated (14.12.18). Date: circa 1917
