A small group at Smithfield's Market looking at beef cattle. Meat had been traded on the site of Smithfield's for over 800 years, but the present building was opened in 1868. Designed by Sir Horace Jones, the building is a product of the railway age with its great arched roof, columns and 8 metre high iron gates. Date: December 1883
