RMS Titanic - Maria Robinson's brooch

RMS Titanic - property of Maria Robinson, fiancee of Wallace Hartley, bandleader and violinist, who died in the disaster. An early 20th century gold and half-pearl pin brooch with a central initial W grain set with thirteen half-pearls. The W applied to a round section pin with an applied panel 15ct.'. The pin is 1.5 inches long overall and measures approximately 1ΜΈ16ins. diameter in section. The W measures approximately ?? inches wide and 5/16ins. high. The brooch weighs 2.7 grams gross. Seed pearls in mourning jewellery are often emblematic of tears and as such this brooch could be a memorial piece. Date: early 20th century
