Cap badge, other ranks, Border Regiment, 1905-1951.Die-struck. An eight-pointed rayed and faceted star, the uppermost point of which is displaced by a monarchial crown. Upon the star, a frosted ball-tipped Maltese Cross superimposed upon a laurel wreath and having between the arms four lions passant gardant. Upon the arms of the cross, the following burnished battle honours. At the top: Pyrenees/ Nivella (sic)/ Nive/ Alma'. On the dexter: Albuhera/ Vittioria/ Lucknow'. On the sinister: Peninsula/ Sevastopol/ Inkerman/ Orthes'. At the base: Relief of/ Ladysmith/ South Africa/ 1899-1902'. In the centre of the cross, a frosted circlet bearing the burnished battle honour: Arroyo dos Molinos/ 1811'. Within the circlet a dragon passant facing dexter upon a red cloth ground, above which is the raised battle honour: China upon a frosted ground. The reverse bear a vertical flat gilding metal slider fitting.Part of a badge, plate and clasp collection.Associated with the Peninsular War (1808-1814), the Crimean War (1854-1856), the India Mutiny (1857-1859) and the Boer War (1899-1902). Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
