Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR. 1A undergoing an engine change
Royal Air Force - A Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.1A of No.3 Squadron undergoing an engine change in the field, under the cover of an inflatable hide, during Exercise Heath Fir in Germany. (Use of the inflatable hide was short-lived, due to the logistics of keeping the blower running, persistent problems with leaks and tears, not to mention the difficulty in storage, set-up and tear-down). (Note that to remove the engine, the wing had to be removed first, though this was a relatively simple task, as long as the tapered attachment bolts were easily removed. The engine was more difficult with less than a centimetre clearance in places and limited access to some connecting parts.). Date: 1976
