Suffragette Tea set Sylvia Pankhurst
A Tea set designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the W.S.P.U in 1909. It was commisioned from the Staffordshire Pottery firm of H.M Williamson for use in the tea room at the Women's Exhibition held at the Prince's Skating Rink, Knightsbridge, May 1909. The design comprises the angel of freedom motif in purple and green against the simple white background. The teapot has a green finial and handle, the tims of the other pieces are also in green. The angel figure was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst specifically for the Women's Exhibition. Date: 1909

Printers Pie was published by The Sphere and Tatler in aid of the Printers Pension, Almshouse and Orphan Asylum Corporation and edited by W. Hugh Spottiswoode. A sister publication, Winter's Pie, was published each Christmas. Both magazines carried contributions from the leading artists and humorous writers of the day including John Hassall (who designed the covers), William Heath Robinson, Lawson Wood and Walter Emanuel. Date: 1909
