United States Navy - Douglas R4D-8 50772 (MSN 43337) (ex USAAF / 14908/26353). Modified to R4D-8 with new MSN 43337 and operated as JM 772 from September 1952 to June 1954. The R4D-8 was the military version of the Super DC-3, which Douglas tried unsuccessfully to sell to civilian customers. The US Navy ordered Douglas to convert 100 existing R4D-5s to the Super DC-3 standard as the only significant customer. Date: circa 1953
