Modern Age. Conferences on Pheasant Island that took place between August and November 1659. The Spanish nobleman Luis Mendez de Haro and Jules Raymond Mazarin, known as Cardinal Mazarin, represented Spain and France respectively during a total of 23 meetings, negotiating the conditions that led to the treaty of peace (Treaty of the Pyrenees), signed on November 7, 1659.
