Walking in the Zoo by Hugh Willoughby Sweny
Promotional music sheet for Walking in the Zoo, a very popular music hall song of 1867/8. It was written by Hugh Willoughby Sweny with music by Alfred Lee, but its popularity was associated with the singer, the Great Vance. The lyrics refer to walking in London Zoo on a Sunday, which was a particular privilege afforded to only members of the Royal Zoological Society as it was closed to the public on a Sunday. Date: circa 1868
