Trajans kiosk on the Isle of Philae, Egypt
19th century vintage photograph: View of Trajans kiosk on the Isle of Philae, Egypt. The structure, also known as the Pharaohs Bed, was erected under Emperor Trajan (AD 53-117). In the 1970s the whole complex was dismantled and relocated to the nearby island of Agilqiyya during a UNESCO project to save a series of ancient monuments from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, following the construction of the Aswan High Dam
