First page of a letter dated 20 April 1916 from Albert Auerbach of the Royal Fusiliers to his sister Lucy from on board the Anchor Line steamer Transylvania. The ship was transporting Albert and his fellow-soldiers to Marseilles, from where they would travel to engage in action on the Western Front. Date: 1916
