Frognal Priory
View of Frognal Priory, built in 1818 by John Thompson, a retired auctioneer. The house, on an elevated site with extensive views, had Gothic crenellations, Renaissance windows, Dutch gables, turrets, and a cupola. It was filled with furniture claimed by Thompson to have belonged to Cardinal Wolsey and Elizabeth I. It was demolished in 1876. Date: 1875
