Three female postal workers walking through a London street in full uniform and with satchels to carry their post. During the war, the Post Office lost 75, 000 employees to military service and was able to form a battalion comprising entirely of postal staff. This loss was managed by the employment of women and by 1916 35, 000 women had jobs at the Post Office. Date: c.1915
