General SIR CECIL FREDERICK NEVIL MACREADY (1862 - 1946) British Army officer serving in senior staff appointments in the First World War. Also served for two years as Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police. Pictured when he was Adjutant-General. Macready was responsible for the establishment of the Registration of War Graves Department which ensured every known grave of every soldier in every theatre of war was registered and photographed. Date: 1917
