Lancers of the 5th Royal Irish Lancers leaving Mons
Lancers of the 5th Royal Irish Lancers, 3rd Cavalry Brigade, 2nd Cavalry Division leaving Mons in 1919. The 5th Lancers (attached to the Canadian Corps) were the first British troops to re-enter Mons, just as they had been the last to leave Mons in August 1914. Very few of the troopers who left Mons in 1914 re-entered in 1918. Richard Caton Woodville, Ri (1856-1927)
