From Convent to Throne by J A Campbell

Promotional postcard for From Convent to Throne by J.A. Campbell by artist E P Kinsella. First produced at the Rotunda in Liverpool, 26th July and the Lyric, Hammersmith on 6th September 1909, and as Queen at Seventeen, at the Princes Theatre in London 1st August 1914. This poster was used in a flyer touring to the Tyne Theatre in Newcastle, 8th April 1912. "Wounded Soldier" Lt. Habsburg lies wounded in the snow, tended by the Princess whom he has come to fetch from her convent to be Queen. Rosella, a charcoal burners daughter, left; the Mother Superior, right. Bruno, an attendant at the convent is just visible in a doorway at the back. Date: 1912

Promotional postcard of Harry Fragson, by E Tabouret postmarked Paris, 7th December 1900". Harry Fragson (2 July 1869 31 December 1913), born L鯮 Philippe Pot, was a British music hall singer and comedian, born in London. Having scored a number of successful performances in England, Fragson moved to Paris, where he developed an act imitating French music hall performers. The act was popular, and allowed him to introduce his own material. He returned to London in 1905 and became a popular in pantomime. He was murdered by his mentally ill father in 1913. Date: 1900

Le Th颴re du Grand-Guignol ("The Theatre of the Great Puppet")known as the Grand Guignolwas a theatre in the Pigalle area of Paris (at 20 bis, rue Chaptal (fr)). From its opening in 1897 until its closing in 1962, it specialised in naturalistic horror shows. Date: circa 1920s
