Louis Paulhan in Blackpool

Louis Paulhan (1883 1963), pioneering French aviator. Louis seated in his French biplane Farman III, at a competition at Blackpool in September 1909, flown by Henry Farman who built the aircraft and second by Louis Paulhan, winning first and third prizes for distance flown and first and second prizes in the speed contest. Date: September 1909

Mrs Frank Jay Gould, nee Florence de Caze (1893-1985), wife of wealthy philanthropist and businessman Frank Jay Gould. Together with him, patronised the arts and helped to develop areas of the French Riviera including Juan-les-Pins. Pictured with tennis champion Suzanne Lenglen, in shorts, at Monte Carlo. Date: 1934
