Framed Print of Some Honours Men by Lieutenant Fred May
Caricuatures of some officers who had won military honours in the First World War. Bottom left is Captain Brown who got his DSO in 1914, was a prisoner in Germany but managed to escape. In the middle is Lieutenant Frederick William Palmer V.C. of the Royal Fusiliers, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions near Courcelette in France in February 1917 where he took control of his company after all the officers had fallen. He dislodged an enemy machine gun and maintained a barricaded position despite eight counter-attacks, all the while rallying other men. Bottom left is Captain B. A. Saunders, M.C. West Yorkshire Regiment, top right Captain W. A. Wolfendle M.C. of the Kings Own Lancaster Regiment and then R.A.F, top middle is Major D. J. R. Richards, D.S.O, M.C or the Royal Garrison Artillery and in the top right is Lieutenant H. Furniss, MC, The Duke of Wellingtons Regiment. Date: 1918. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
