Heswall Sanatorium, Cheshire
Heswall Sanatorium or Childrens Hospital, located on the Wirral peninsula, Cheshire. It was established in 1902 by Liverpool Parish, West Derby Union, and Toxteth Park Township for treating phthisis (tuberculosis of the lungs) in children. It was the first such sanatorium set up by poor law authorities outside London. The site later became Cleaver Hospital
