Groombridge Chapel, Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Groombridge Chapel (St John s), Tunbridge Wells, Kent -- an inscription over the porch commemorates (in Latin), the return of Prince Charles (later King Charles I), who had travelled to Spain in 1623 with a view to marrying the kings daughter. His plan was unsuccessful, and he returned unmarried -- the chapel was built as a thanksgiving for this, and completed in 1625. Date: 1809
