The Green Goddess by William Archer
Promotional postcard of The Green Goddess by William Archer. First produced at the St. Jamess Theatre, 6th September 1923. George Arliss, one of the first English actors to succeed in Holly-wood, had a great hit as the Indian rajah. The irony of the plays success is that the plays author Archer, who had spent a professional lifetime advocating Ibsen and other advanced authors, became rich at last from this old-fashioned melodrama. Date: circa 1923
