Gas powered car by Annie Fish, WW1
A car powered by coal gas which was contained in a rubber bag similar to a pneumatic tyre and placed on the top of the car. Gas-fuelled cars were an innovation of the First World War period and here Annie Fish, illustrating the Letters of Eve column in The Tatler shows an example while Eve, and her beau Fred, cuddle up together in the back seat.
