Tyneham House
The deserted Tyneham House, in the village of Tyneham, on the Dorset coast. The village and surrounding area was commandeered by the War Office in late 1943, to be used as firing ranges. Originally intended as a temporary arrangement, it was made more permanent and the area has used for military training ever since. This Elizabethan manor house fell into ruin and little now remains. Date: 1949

The Rat Pit at The Swan Inn, Ash Ranges, Ash, Surrey. Publican John Tupper (1817-1903) was celebrated for his breeding of sporting dogs and game cocks. He ran the pub from 1832, as recorded on the In Memoriam plaque shown on this card. Date: circa 1905
