An 'aeroplane gown' with divided skirt, the creation of a New York fashion house in 1909. Opening at the back on the left side, it fastened with hooks and was entirely buttonless. The trousers reached to the ankles and were caught up below the knee with rubber bands! The width of each pantaloons was 56 inches. Date: 1909

For a spring wedding, the bride in a 3/4 length shirmp-pink enriched lace satin dress with panels to the sides, wearing a matching long net train. Orange blossom skull cap headdress with long veil fastened to the cap. Bridemaid in sleeveless 3/4 length dress made of taffeta and lace with a intricate design in a variety of coloures, around the neck is a long light weight sheer dress scarf. Little bridemaid's dress in blue taffeta and lace, skirt is covered with frills, with pantaloons finished with lace. Page boy suit in linen muslin.

WW1 - French Turkos troops - Prisoners of War

WW1 - Captured French Turkos (or Turcos) troops - the nickname of the Algerian and Tunisian rifles of the French army, which were officially known as Tirailleurs Algeriens and Tirailleurs Tunisiens. These units were formed after the conquest of North Africa from local people. The two Turkos soldiers are being guarded by a German soldier (right).
