The Goring Hotel, Victoria, London. A photograph taken not too long after the opening of this luxurious London Hotel (in 1910 by founder Otto Richard Goring). It was the first Hotel in the world to offer en suite bathrooms and central heating in every bedroom!

Straw hats by Otto Lucas Junior and Chez Elle

On the left: model wearing a plum straw hat with versatile brim by Otto Lucas Junior. To give her that natural, glowing look, they used the liquid film foundation "Beige Rose" and same shade powder (Ayer Pink No. 1) on cheeks, and "Beige Gazelle" lipstick. For the eyes, black eyeliner used with Super Long mascara, brown eyebrow pencil and "Pearly Beige" eyeshadow. On the right: model wearing a yellow straw hat with upturned brim banded in navy by Chez Elle. Worn with make-up by Max Factor. The foundation is Sheer Genius "Tempting Touch" under "Translucent" Creme Puff and brightened with "Amber Coral" cake rouge. Eyes made up with grey eyebrow pencil, grey mascara, grey cake eyeliner, the lids highlighted with "Fair" Erace and shadowed with grey eyeshadow. Finishing touch, brown fashion lashes. The lipstick is from their new range and called "Petal Satin" frosted with "Cinnamon Frost". Date: 1966

The Desert Song by Otto Harbach, Oscar Hammerstein and Frank Mandel, with music by Sigmund Romberg, at the Casino Theatre, New York, on 30th November 1926. First produced in England at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on 7th April 1927. Margot Bonvalet and the Red Shadow are seen in the desert. Alfred Butt in conjunction with Lee Ephraim present. Touring to the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, on 6th May 1929. Date: 1929
