Victims of the First Gas Attack Memorial, Steenstraat
This 15 metres high Cross of Reconciliation, commemorates the victims of the first gas attack of the war made by the Germans on 22 April 1915. An earlier memorial, erected by the French 418th Infantry Regiment in 1929, was blown up by the Germans on 8 May 1941. Four years later on that same day the Germans surrendered. Date: 2016
