Marquess and Marchioness of Anglesey

Sir Charles Henry Alexander Paget, 6th Marquess of Anglesey GCVO (1885-1947) and his bride, Lady Victoria Manners, a daughter of the 8th Duke of Rutland, returning from their honeymoon to their stately home, Beaudesert Hall on the eastern edge of Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. At the Guildhall they were welcomed with a speech from the Mayor of Lichfield, and the Mayoress presented the Marchioness with a bouquet. In this photograph gamekeepers and gardeners are seen drawing the couple's carriage through the grounds, while others push from behind.

Royal Wedding 1934 - honeymoon incidents

The newly married Duke and Duchess of Kent at Himley where they spent the first part of their honeymoon at Himley Hall, the home of Lord Dudley in Staffordshire. The top picture shows the newlyweds attending the morning service at the parish church, and the bottom shows them on the terrace at Himley Hall with the Duke's Alsatian dog, Dushka. Date: 1934

St Clare, Isle of Wight

St Clare, near Ryde on the Isle of Wight, the family seat of the Vernon-Harcourt family. A castellated mansion with extensive grounds and a view across to Portsmouth on the mainland, it was often visted by Queen Victoria and Albert. Princess Alice, the Queens daughter, stayed there with her husband Prince Louis of Hesse on their honeymoon following their wedding at Osborne House on 2 July 1862. St Clare house has since been demolished. Date: 1862
