Queen Elizabeth with Superintendent Peto, WW2
Queen Elizabeth accompanied by Superintendent D.O.G. Peto of the Metropolitan Police, taking part in a visit to Pembridge Hall Section House during the Second World War. Dorothy Olivia Georgiana Peto (1886-1974) was first Woman Superintendent in the London Metropolitan Police. She served from 1930 until 1946, receiving the OBE in 1920 and the King's Police Medal in 1944. Others present include air raid wardens wearing shiny metal helmets. Date: circa 1939

Roger Bushell and Georgiana Curzon
Guests at the wedding of Viscount Curzon and Miss Priscilla Weigall at St Paul's Cathedral. On the left is Roger Bushell, who following his capture in France as an RAF pilot in 1940, would be the mastermind behind the attempted Great Escape from Stalag Luft III at Sagan in 1944. His own escape attempt failed and he was summarily murdered by the Gestapo. In the centre is Lady Georgiana Curzon, sister of the bridegroom and to the right Miss Livia Paravicini, both of whom were bridesmaids at the wedding. Date: July 1935
