Ladies Football, 1894
The lady footballers: an anticipation. The Sketch anticipates the brave new world of women footballers: a good looking goalkeeper recieves much attention, the referee is mobbed by a posse of argumentative women, and two over enthusiastic ladies attempt a dirty tackle on a member of the opposite team. Date: 1894

Swindon Town Football Club 1907-8 season
Swindon Town Football Club 1907-8 season. Swindon's exploits at this time owed a lot to the skilful forward Harold John Fleming (1887-1955) who was capped by England 11 times between 1909 and 1914 despite playing outside the Football League. Fleming remained with Swindon throughout a playing career spanning 1907 and 1924 and went on to live in the town for his entire life (see: 10075557). Another player featured is the wonderfully-named Herbert Ernest Saxon Bertie Cordey Lyon (1877-?) !! Date: circa 1907
