LCC-LFB Northcote fire station, Battersea, SW London
Built by the London County Council, Northcote fire station was located at 59-61 Chatham Road, SW8. The widespread adoption of motorised fire engines by the LFB led to a reduction in the number of fire stations required. A report produced in 1920 recommended the closure of 15, and Northcote was one of them

HMS Shannon
HMS Shannon, view of the armoured cruiser, taken from the fighting top, shows the deck and some of the chief guns. Built in Chatham Dockyard, England, fro the Royal Navy in the mid-1900s. Before the First World War, she served with the Home Fleet, generally as the flagship of a cruiser squadron. The ship remained with the Grand Fleet, as the Home Fleet was renamed when the war began, for the entire war, but only participated in a single battle, the Battle of Jutland in May 1916. Shannon spent most of the war unsuccessfully patrolling the North Sea for German warships. Date: 1912
