Edward, Prince of Wales (1894-1972), later King Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor, shaking hands with a coal miner at Middlestone Moor in County Durham, during his tour of the coalfields in 1929. The Princes sociable character together with his sympathy for the miners won him the support of many members of the working class. Date: 1929
