United States Air Force - Lockheed C-130D Hercules 57-0486 (msn 182-3193), of the 17th Troop Carrier Squadron (21st Composite Wing) Alaska Air Command with wheel-ski undercarriage. 57-486 was assigned to NASA Langley Research Center, Langley Field, VA 1958.Deployed to Antarctica on Operation ICE FLOW January - February 1960, named Great Dane. Landed at South Pole, Byrd and McMurdo stations. Converted to GC-130D ground trainer at Sheppard Air Force Base. Date: 1960s
