Lieutenant Alfred Brandon (1883 - 1974), New Zealand lawyer
Lieutenant Alfred Brandon (1883 - 1974), New Zealand lawyer and military aviator who served in the First World War, and was credited with the destruction of two Zeppelin airships. Awarded the Victoria Cross after he destroyed a Zeppelin in flight. Brandon, from New Zealand, received the highest military honour by flying above the German airship and dropping a bomb onto it. The Zeppelin crashed in flames over French soil. Date: 1916
