Exterior of the London Hippodrome
Exterior, showing entrance, of the brand new London Hippodrome, when it opened in January 1900. Built by theatre architect Frank Matcham for Edward Moss (Moss Empires Limited) in its first decade it specialised in circus and variety and was renowned for its water spectacles, made possible by a tank that could be raised hydraulics from underneath the auditorium. The building went through a number of changes through the years, becoming The Talk of the Town from 1958 to 1982. It is now the Hippodrome Casino. Date: 1900
