The Capture of Veracruz by American Forces
American troops stand in formation across a large square, with soldiers on horseback gathered in the centre to celebrate the successful capture of Veracruz the day previously. A crowd of civilians, stands off to the right looking at the soldiers. This was during the Mexican-American War, with Veracruz being captured by the Americans after a 2 week siege, on 28th March 1847.
