Advertisement for The Lagoon in Orpington, Kent, an outdoor swimming pool measuring 200 feet by 75 feet and opened in 1933. Opened by Eugene O Sullivan and Don Stewart, the Lagoon was able to accommodate around 1500 people and offered sunbathing loungers, and a refreshment cafÚ¼áwith plans to build a dance hall and several tennis courts. With the outbreak of war in 1939, the pool was closed and never re-opened. Date: 1933
