Luke O Connor(1831-1915), when sergeant, taking the colours from Lieut. Anstruther, and though severely wounded, carrying them to the end of the day at the Battle of Alma during the Crimean War. Such was O Connors bravery that he was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1857 when Queen Victoria first presented the award
