French bank note, Banque de France, 50 Francs, issued on 19 May 1949. With a portrait of the French mathematician and astronomer Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier (1811-1877) on the front, and Neptune on the back. Le Verrier took part in the discovery of the planet Neptune in 1846. Date: 1949
