Egyptian Shadoof at Cairo, raising water from the Nile to irrigate fields. The shadoof was originally developed in ancient Mesopotamia, and appears on a Sargonid seal of around 2000 BCE. It is still used in many areas of Africa and Asia to draw water. Date: circa 1910s
