Fractured barrel of German Paris Gun, WW1

The fractured barrel of the German Paris Gun (also known as the Emperor William Gun), a long-range seige gun designed and manufactured by Krupp, used towards the end of the First World War. It was first fired from the forest of Coucy on 21 March 1918, the first shell landing on the Quai du Seine. The explosion was heard across the city. Over 300 shells in total were fired between March and August, at a rate of about 20 per day. Date: circa 1918
